After the box office success of Batman Begins in 2005, it’s about time a sequel is released. The Dark Knight released July 2008 is the latest in the Batman film series. Christian Bale reprised the lead role, that of Batman or Bruce Wayne. Christopher Nolan again, directed the movie. This latest sequel surpassed its predecessor intensity wise as it is tremendously filled with more action and excitement fr
om start to end. Christopher Nolan and Christian Bale were not the only stars who reunited in The Dark Knight. There are a few more others who were cast again and kept their roles from the Batman Begins. Michael Caine, Gary Oldman and Morgan Freeman remained as Alfred, Lieutenant Jim Gordon and Lucius Fox respectively. Scarecrow is still in this sequel and still played by Cillian Murphy. Maggie Gyllenhaal joined the cast as Rachel Dawes.
The very popular arch-villain The Joker was played by Academy Award nominee Heath Ledger who died long before the movie was shown. Heath Ledger portrayed The Joker this time with so much evil. In one way or another, his unfortunate death contributed to the promotion of the movie as it stirred up more curiosity from the movie going public.
